... the hearing impaired too.
Finger Lakes Region Lions Hearing Foundation, Inc.
Union Springs, NY 13160
FLRLHF Executive Officers
The FLRLHF collects used hearing aids, has them refurbished, and makes them available to eligible,
needy individuals. The Foundation also pays for hearing aid repairs, hearing testing and hearing
aid evaluations as needed for people who qualify.
Since the Foundation's beginning over 2,000 people have been assisted through its efforts, and the
number continues to grow each month.
Donations and Contributions
The Foundation operates on contributions from local Lions, Lioness, and Leo Clubs. These clubs
also collect used hearing aids.
Some of the aids are used for salvage value. We apply this salvage value to the cost of refurbishing
the better, later model hearing aids that we dispense to those who apply for our assistance.
What Kind of Hearing Aids Are Available?
The Foundation generally supplies used and refurbished behind the ear hearing aids. These instruments
are in good condition and have a good history of rehabilitation.

Founded by the Union Springs Lions Club in 1985, the Finger Lakes Region Lions Hearing Foundation is an
incorporated 501(c)(3), not-for-profit organization and is approved by Lions Clubs International as a
Lions Organization, created to serve the needs of persons with hearing loss.
Hearing is the sense that allows us to monitor our environment: around the corner, in back, above and in
places where we can't see. It often works unconsciously and keeps us in touch with what's happening all
And hearing is the sense that keeps us in touch with friends and loved ones. It keeps us in social events
and allows us to transact our daily business. It keeps us in touch with people.
Helen Keller said: "I am just as deaf as I am blind. The problems of deafness are deeper and more complex,
if not more important, than those of blindness. Deafness is a much worse misfortune."
Hearing is precious. It needs to be optimized for those who need hearing help, and so contact can be
maintained with the world around them. It is paramount in order to function optimally in every day life and
stay in touch with their surroundings and their loved ones.
The Finger Lakes Region Lions Hearing Foundation, Inc. provides a means for people with limited financial
resources to be in contact with the people and world around them.
